- The Pokemon Legends: Arceus game pays tribute to the core gameplay of previous Pokemon titles while introducing innovative action and RPG elements. Players are tasked with capturing, surveying, and researching wild Pokemon in an ancient era of the Sinnoh region to compile the region's inaugural Pokedex.
To capture Pokemon, players can observe their behavior, stealthily approach, aim a Poke Ball, and release it. Alternatively, players can engage their ally Pokemon in battles with wild Pokemon they wish to capture. By throwing a Poke Ball containing an ally Pokemon near a wild Pokemon, players seamlessly enter battle mode and can command their Pokemon using known moves.
Set in the Sinnoh region, the backdrop for Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games, this narrative unfolds in a bygone era, predating the concepts of Pokemon Trainers and Pokemon Leagues. The environment features wild Pokemon thriving in challenging conditions, offering a distinct Sinnoh experience compared to the Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games.
At the beginning of the adventure to create the region's first Pokedex, players can select Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott as their partner. These Pokemon were brought by a Pokemon Professor who discovered them during research trips to various regions.
