ZD1901 is a device that allows you to turn a circuit on and off optically. It comprises a moulded plastic housing with an IR LED facing a phototransistor through a gap. Any object in the gap will interrupt the IR beam thereby switching the phototransistor on and off. The device is highly responsive and excellent for counting, timing, and sensing.
