The RN3464 is a low cost speaker protection device that uses polyswitches to protect against electrical overload. It is important to select the device based on its trip rating, and to be conservative in your choice. Polyswitch protectors act like resettable solid state circuit breakers and are based on conductive polymers. The RN3464 has voltage ratings of 50-60 volts and is available in different trip ratings for different Ohm ratings - 4, 6, 8 Ohms and 1.65 amps. They will not protect against mechanical overload.
